How to recover emails that are lost due to accidental removal of an email account

I have accidentally removed an email account from Outlook 2010. The emails under this account were all gone although they were previously downloaded to my computer (shown in the outlook program) and I never deleted them. Does anybody know how to recover these emails?

What type of email account?

If it's IMAP or Exchange, just re-create the account.

POP email downloads to the local pst file and removing the account does not remove the downloaded email...
 
You may need to know your current password to be able to change it out to something else.

Thanks for the tip regarding IMAP and Exchange. I knew that POP emails are not deleted but never had an idea that IMAP or Exchange emails can be recovered by re-creating the account. Ignorant me! Had been advising wrong to my clients. :(
