recover a deleted folder in outlook 2010

I have deleted a private folder from my Outlook 2010, all internet searches suggest that I can recover the filder from the deleted items folder and then recover deleted items, however the folder is not there. There are several deleted emails (not folders) that I can recover, I also tested by creating a new folder, putting some test emails in the folder then deleted the test folder, I was hoping that the emails within the folder would be listed in the deleted items folder, but unfortunately they are not there either, so to conclude it seems that if you delete a folder it is gone, does anybody know if there is a way to get a deleted folder back?
 
Are you using the Mail list view or the Folder list view? Try the folder list view. Deleted folders will be in the Deleted items folder and the contents of the folder will be in it.

If you empty deleted items, the folder won't be listed as an entry in the deleted items recovery but the deleted items will be -the folder should be recreated when you recover the items that were in it
