Outlook 2010 and certificate problems

I have an email certificate from Globalsign which I am trying to use with Outlook 2010. The certificate is on the system successfuly and listed when I attempt to set it up in the Trust Center. However when I go to send an email I get the error: Invalid Certificate Microsoft Outlook cannot sign or encrypt this message because you have no certificates which can be used to send from your e-mail address. - The certificate I am using was specifically created for this email address. Anyone any ideas how to go about fixing this? thanks Simon
 
It is an email specific certificate from GlobalSign. Seems to work without issues within Internet Explorer and on my Android based phone.
 
They have 4 - https://nl.globalsign.com/en/products/digital+ids/ - and I'm guessing Diane was thinking she'd get one to check it out but only if it was the cheap one.




Did you try removing it from the Trust Center, Email Security page and adding it back?


How many accounts are in your profile? Does the email address match for the account your are sending mail from?
 
Going through microsoft, I found a link to a free trial - when i picked it up, it installed the cert in IE and when i went into Outlook, it was installed as the email signature. (Pretty slick and painless. :) ) It works fine for the address it was assigned to.

If i try to use it to sign a message sent from a different account, i get this message

This means one of two things - there is a typo in the cert (or it doesn't use the default SMTP of your mailbox) or you are trying to use it with a secondary account in your profile (that's what i did to trigger the message).
 
I am trying to use it with my main account.

I have just had a thought though. The certificate is for my email address, which is at my own domain. However, I use Office 365 to provide my email services via Outlook 2010 client. The exchange server address for this email address is a *.outlook.com. Could this be causing it? if so, how can I get around it.

Are you forwarding mail to sbit@outlook.com or have the office 365 account configured to accept sbit@my-domain.com?

Assuming the domain is configured at office 365 and is set as the defaul domain, I don't think it matters as it goes by the email address but i just switched my account to office 365 and will test it.
 
The domain is fully configured with Office 365 and is the default domain in Outlook.
 
Still cant get this to work, any other suggestions?
