I have a custom today page which displays my tasks pane, among other things. Quite a few of my colleagues like this today page and have asked for it so they can work in a similar way to me.

The code I've used to display my tasks on the today page is:
Code:
<OBJECT classid=CLSID:0006F063-0000-0000-C000-000000000046 id=ViewCtlFolder width="100%" height="700px">

<param name="Folder" value="Tasks">

<param name="Namespace" value="MAPI">

<param name="Restriction" value>

<param name="DeferUpdate" value="0"></OBJECT>

I want to create a shared tasks list which I can also include on the today page, and have create the shared tasks folder in my personal mailbo, but I have no idea how to refer to this shared task list in code. I assume I would need a different CLSID. How do I determine which code is correct?

thanks

Guy

What version of Outlook?

The line you need to change is :

param name="Folder" value="Tasks"

and if you use an older version with the web toolbar, you can get the path by opening the folder then looking in the address bar.

Otherwise, try right clicking on the folder and checking properties - the path should be in the location field.

I'm using 2003, but will soon be migrating to 2010 (hopefully I can keep my today page).

The shared folder is called "Testing Tasks", so do I just replace "Tasks" with "Testing Tasks"? That might work for me, but wouldn't other users need a more absolute reference / url?

The location field in properties simply says "Tasks", so again, not sure if that would need expanded on for other users to access and amend the same task list, each person having "owner" priviledges.

Edit: replacing "Tasks" with "Testing Tasks" didn't work even for me.

Okay, replacing "Tasks" with "Tasks\Testing Tasks" DID work for me, but again, surely when I distribute this code to my colleagues, the "Tasks\Testing Tasks" will be looling in THEIR mailbox, not mine.

The point is that this is a shared folder, and I need everyone to be able to access the SAME list in MY mailbox. Perhaps I need to use a public folder, though I believe there are corporate restrictions on doing that for tasks lists (I think public folders are reserved for calendars and contacts, and even then we have to jump through many days worth of hoops to get the appropriate access to create one)

Do I need to add my Exchange Server Name and Mailbox to the "location" somehow - ie "servername.mycompany.com\carnegie.guy\Tasks\Testing Tasks"?

You need to add your mailbnox name to it, not just Tasks\Subfolder. It won't be servername.company.com. Do you have outlook 2003 or Exchange 2003? In Outlook 2003, i think the web address bar is still accessable - that should have the full path.

Check the properties on the folder in your outlook - here is has mine as \\me@domain.com\Tasks\Subtasks - that should work but i haven't tested it.

I'm not sure if you can share a subfolder in this manner - you might need to move it to a public folder.

Outlook 2003. Not sure what exchange version - or how to check for that matter!

Web toolbar just shows "outlook:Tasks\Testing Tasks", but I will try to put my email address in front of it.

No, doesn't seem to work at all.

I read up on it and some people say it has to have the format "\\servername/exchange/username" but that didn't work either - not sure if I'm supposed to still put "outlook:" in front of it, but made no difference either way - and that was just looking for my default inbox, not a tasks subfolder.
