Shared Contacts Folder Disappears from Other Contacts

Since Installing a new Exchange Server 2010 I have noticed an issue that comes up on workstations that have Office 2010 and either Windows XP or Windows 7 32-bit. We have a shared contacts folder (Good News Contacts) that is in the Public Folders. The shared contacts folder has been added to the user's Favorites. And most of the time that results in the folder then showing up under "Other Contacts" when in contacts view. However, at times the folder "disappears" from other contacts, and going back into the Public Folders and re-adding it to favorites does NOT result in it appearing back in Other Contacts. Once this happens, the folder seems to come and go from Other Contacts, and there seems to be no ryhm or reason to it.

I have posted this issue in other forums and to date have received no helpful information other than people telling me to do all the things I have already mentioned above. ANY useful suggestions will be greatly apprecaited. Thank you.

That is a sign the navigation pane is corrupt.

Close Outlook. Using the Start search field on Vista or Windows7 Start menu or press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type or paste the following

outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Then press Enter (or OK button) to restart Outlook.

this will reset the navpane and you'll need to add folders back to it.

Thanks Diane for responding. What I found was an operator error (me). I had collapsed the Other Contacts list. It made me think it was empty. This same thing happened to one of our other users, so I thought we had an issue. Both "problems" were resolved by expnading the Other Contacts list. Thanks again.

That's definitely a better fix than resetting the navigation pane. <g> I'll have to remember to suggest it when people say they are missing contacts folders.
