This problem is a little weird...

Usually when you create a new message in Outlook 2010, the cursor automatically goes to the "to" field in the new message.

But strangely for me, it goes to the body of the message.

This seems like a small problem, but when you're composing many new emails every day, it becomes a pain.

I looked at all the settings in the Options and couldn't find anything.

Anyone have a solution?

Re: When I click new message in outlook, my cursor defaults to the body of t

I found somewhere online that disabling the "pivotal" add-in solves the problem.

Does anyone know if this could have negative consequences?

Re: When I click new message in outlook, my cursor defaults to the body of t

Is that a CRM add-in? With it disabled, you will not be able to use the features it offers. Without knowing for sure what it does or how you use it, its hard to say if it will have negative consequences.

I'm hope I'm going to get flamed for bringing up an old thread, but looking at the title and the location of the forum, it seems relevant.

I was wondering if anyone has had any success in figuring this out. I can't seem to figure out why this happens. It's only 25-50% of the time as well. Usually I send links as a new email message from within Firefox, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it (it was never an issue with Outlook 2010).

I don't believe it's an add-in, as I'd disabled them all, yet still have the problem. Even if it is ad add-in, I don't have any extra add-ins installed, so it would have to be one of the following:

Active Application Add-ins
Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013
Microsoft Exchange Add-in
Microsoft SharePoint Server Colleague Import Add-in
Outlook Social Connector 2013

Inactive Application Add-ins
Microsoft Access Outlook Add-in for Data Collection and Publishing
Microsoft VBA for Outlook Add-in

Disabled Application Add-ins
Windows Search Email Indexer

Thanks in advance!

**EDIT**
I'm wondering if anything in this thread is relevant. It is related to the same issue, only except custom form in Outlook 2010:

I assume you forgot "not" :) The only flaming that happens around here is against spammers.

Custom forms are more likely to suffer from this problem, but if you don't have a custom form, its obviously not the cause. For everyone else, its usually an addin, but your addins look to be good.

Hahah, yes... you are right. I forgot the "not".

My Outlook is stock, unless there is something that installed without me knowing (eg: stupid Adobe addons everytime you install one of their products).

So does that mean this is a known problem without a fix?

I was hoping to pop back in here and see if anyone had a solution to this. I've already tried disabling all add-ins, been through several Office 2013 uninstall/reinstalls, etc. The behavior seems most repeatable when creating a new mail from an external application like Firefox, but also can happen when forwarding an email. I can repeatedly try to reproduce it, and only get it to happen may 3-4 out of 10 times. Each time, I am right-clicking and selecting "Email Link" in Firefox.
