Using remove from server after x days

If I set outlook to remove messages from server after 5 days, then go on vacation for 14 days when I return home and check my mail will it remove all items older than 5 days and only give me the newest ones? Or will it download all items and then remove the ones older than 5 days?

Bear in mind that I may periodically check my mail using an iPad whilst I'm away.

Would I be best to set to remove messages from server after 14 days?

Sorry just one last question. If I sent my PC to remove after 7 days, and remove when deleted from deleted items folder, but set my ipad to (which is also pop3) to leave messages on server does that cause a confilict if the ipad picks up the messages first?
