Using or not using apostrophes in search terms has this changed?

I have a user VIP that swears that before he had to change his password today that when he did an instant search, he would get the same results from Anita's files as he would get from Anitas files. I verified that they will produce two different results on my machine when I went to research this on my own. I was just wondering if you think my user is delusional or if something did indeed change in the back end to make that change happen.
Background: Office/Outlook 16 using Office 365 and Windows 7 machine.
