I'm trying to configure Windows 7 Pro for an older Dell PDA and it required me to set Outlook as my default mail handler. I don't like to use Outlook, so created a Virtual Machine with Windows XP and loaded the Dell software into it, then installed Outlook 2003 from the Dell CD as directed and it seemed fine, including testing the connection. Then, as required, I re-booted and the trouble started.
The VM starts and a check in Windows 7 start confirms it's running, but the VM/XP has a black page and the toolbar at the top partly faded out. The Outlook user name/password box pops up but won't accept my user name and/or password. I've tried every configuration I've used over quite a few years. If I use the new user name and an old password it'll go away for a few seconds then return. Any other combination results in an instant failure.
This leaves me with a black screen and no buttons, no nothing. Right click......nothing. Only way to get rid of that screen is to re-boot my primary Windows 7 Pro. I use 2 screens, so can operate from the primary screen while fussing with VM on the secondary. (not sure my terminology is correct - I'm not a pro, but I hope my meaning is clear)
I sure do hope you can help.
Thanks..............Lar.
