Outlook 2003 editing problem

I have two computers with Outlook 2003. On the first - Windows XP - using 'Edit, Edit message' I can edit incoming mail to my heart's content. However, on the second - Windows 7 - whilst I can edit some emails this way, others I cannot or at least I can edit them but the changes aren't saved, even after a manual File, Save.

Is there a setting I need to change on the second pc which would be causing this problem?

PS I use Word 2003 as my email editor on both pcs.
 
Obviously, something is not right and needs changed, because it should work. :)

No error messages? Same windows account type on both? (I assume administrator?)

Are certain file types always affected, either save or not saved? ie, can you always save text files but never word or excel documents.
 
Thanks, Diane. Yes, no error messages. It seems to be mainly HTML emails I have trouble with. If I amend the subject line and then close the email, I'm prompted to save the changes (as usual). However, if I amend the text, the changes aren't saved. Plain text email editing works ok.
