Outlook 2021 not working with Outlook 2003 installed

Outlook version:     Outlook 2003 & 2021
Email type or host:    pop
Using Outlook 2003 with is working, decided to install outlook 2021 and it will not connect to emails, and outlook 2003 now opens then closes after a minute or 2
 
The email host is Bigpond. I did a repair on 2003 and the emails worked, but next day same problem
 
2021 will not connect to the server, settings are the same as 2003, contacted Bigpond they checked the setup couldn't find a problem said to contact Microsoft but we can only get help on the web and that doesn't fix this kind of problem

Did you try repairing office 2003 install? That should fix the open/close problem.

I'm curious Diane, to why you're still using Outlook 2016? Isn't 2016 out of date, and MS has stopped putting out any new patches for it?
