Outlook 2021 change view

Hello,

I am using Outlook as part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021. In previous versions I was able to arrange the screen view to have the list of folders on the left and the contacts, calendar links at the bottom of the column. Then I had the email inbox in the center with the reading pane below it. Then on the right I had the mini calendar and below it was the list of coming events.

I have tried several ways to get my view set up but never got it all, and then when I closed Outlook and opened it the next day the view was back to the default.

Can anyone give me step by step directions to set up the view I want and then make it permanent?

I know Microsoft is always changing things to something they think is better but I like to have things where I have had them for many years.

One other question, in previous versions we were able to change the background color (border) instead of the dismal bright grey currently used is this change possible and if so how?

Nothing in the view is sticking?

What type of email account do you have configured in Outlook? POP, IMAP, Outlook.com, or Microsoft Exchange?

Do you have an option in File > Options > General to save settings to the cloud? Disable that option.

Hi Diane, Thanks for getting back to me. I have a POP gmail account since I use it on my laptop and ipad. I have made some progress in getting the layout like I used to have and it has been sticking for 2 days. So maybe I found the secret button. One thing I would like your help is how do I get rid of the flag in the message title (I never liked or used this feature and do not plan to in the future) also I would like to remove the trash can from the message title, I prefer to have it in the toolbar since I have accidentally deleted messages while scrolling. Hopefully removing those two things will get the message title back to a single line without all the extra lines. I use the preview pane so I don't need to have these extra lines in the message title line.

New question, it appears that Outlook 2021 folder sort defaults to Newest to Oldest, I prefer Oldest to Newest. I think I have found a setting that will change the default for new folders but I have found nothing to change the existing folders. I have around 500 folders so I am hoping that I will not have to change each one.
