I have 2 accounts within Outlook 2007 - work email through Microsoft Exchange and a Gmail IMAP account. I have a rule set where email sent to the work account will also be copied to the Inbox of the IMAP account. This allows me to use the Gmail app on my phone to keep up with emails while away from my desk (as long as the client is running). Up until a few days ago, everything worked as it had been for the past few years. After an issue with the Exchange server, which has since been resolved, I am having problems with the IMAP account.
If an email is sent directly to the Gmail account, I am notified through the Gmail app on the phone that I have new mail. If an email is sent to the work account, where it gets copied to the Gmail IMAP in Outlook, there is no notification, even though the message is displayed as unread both in Outlook and gmail.com.
As I said, this used to work flawlessly and I think I have eliminated the possibility of problems with Gmail, the app, or the phone. I believe the issue to be related to how the message is copied from one Outlook Inbox (work) to another (Gmail IMAP) and I also think it has something to do with how our Exchange IT folks fixed our server problem, but I don't know enough about those topics to formulate a solution.
Can anyone shed light on this?
