Using the sample form provided by slipstick "While you were out".

Have published the form to our organizational forms library, and is visible to all. I have a customization question, but will post that later once we solve this strange problem.

I am seeing the correct form, when i open it and 'send' the message. However, when i look at what is received, either by me when sent to myself, or on any colleague's account, I see no body text that was entered, and instead see multiple entries of one of my signatures.

Here is the form as filled out just prior to hitting send

Here is what is received.

Anyone have a clue what might be going on? I would love for this to work, as we can really use the functionality in this form.

Thanks

Jeff

I did not try whileout.zip but wywo.zip worked in case you didn't try both. I extracted to a folder, then

file/new/Choose Form/Use Templates In File System

etc.

They both work as expected for me - WYWO has better features but WhileOut is readable in the reading pane. In both cases, only one signature was added. Oh, did you publish it? If you opened it to publish, you need to delete the signature before publishing. Otherwise, you have the 'published' signature and the one added to new forms.

Hello

When I installed the form, it appeared to be working correctly, as you all have seen. When I open it I am NOT seeing a signature to delete, which is why I am baffled as to where this is coming from (much less 2 of them).

The mail server does NOT add any signatures to the mail.

I do not know which 'version' of the form we have used...is wywo not compatible with the reading pane?

wywo is a tweaked version of the form and has some scripting that keeps it from working in the reading pane. A colleague tweaked it - I should take a look and see if it can be updated for newer versions and work in the reading pane.

According to the screenshot, you have the old version.

Is this in a true org forms library? (In Exchange without public folders, sites use a shared mailbox to share forms and call it the org library.)

Are you using rules or anything that could be reprocessing the message? It's sent as RTF, which could mean the note is lost in a winmail.dat file - I think once we solve the 2 signatures, we'll know why the body is lost/replaced.

Diane

Yes, true org library

No rules for the image. Would love to hire you to work this out, update the form, as well as work out the distribution problem we will inevitably have

Sorry it is taking so long to respond to the forums, but the forums SPF is appraent not configured correctly and the notification messages were getting blocked. You may want to look at that...

Sorry about that - I had an SPF record set up then temporarily removed it for the forum notification address and forgot to put it back. :(

I'm booked up until about mid-may between work and a scheduled vacation. If you can wait that long, I am available.

I would like to get a solution as quickly as possible...I would hope before May, but it is what it is. If you have anything to look at, I would be happy to try and work it myself. I am an MCSE and pretty familiar with Exchange and Outlook, but the problems here appear to be pretty specific and esoteric to Outlook forms programming, with which I have limited expertise by comparison.

Let me know what you might like me to do.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm perplexed by the signatures. Weird. Very weird.

Forms programming isn't hard, especially that form which is just a fancy email form.

Do you get two signatures if it's published in a local folder, either in the Inbox or the Personal Forms library? I don't know if it was mentioned previously, but published forms are RTF - not a problem generally, especially if the message stays on the exchange server. But if the message was sent outside to the internet, it could account for the lost message contents. That leaves the double signature to solve.

Larry

I can't speak for everyone, but I too am perplexed. I have done a bit of programming and I too agree that this should not be this hard.

Your thoughts on the RTF thing is a good thought, however the people getting these are all users on this Exchange server, so it never leaves the box. No problems with RTF of any kind

The double signature thing...I had a thought, but no way to check...if the signature is being inserted once upon open/publish, and again on open/send, that would explain it. The problem with this theory is that at no point during the process does the signature appear. For example, when I send an email, my signature is already inserted, and I start typing right above it. Perhaps the insertion happens at a different point in the process on this custom form than it does for the others...for example if it is done on close or save, I would never see the signature go in, just the results. It could also explain the missing body if it is replacing text that is already there...(Dubious...would like to think that the process is better thought out than that, but...) This may be way off, but the math happens to work...question is what now?

The open/publish - open/send theory doesn't work, I don't think. When you open the format, there is no signature at all, correct ? It's not published with a signature (usual cause for double signatures - publish it with a signature, then one is added when it's opened.)

I have to turn my Exchange server back on to test this - I shut it down when we moved to office365, which does not have an org library.

Diane

You are correct in terms of what I see. At NO point do I see a signature, not even when I opened the form for sending...this would be considered odd if it is supposed to behave like an email. As I said, depending on which account I send from (I have 2 different exchange accounts) I have a different signature that automatically appears.

When I first installed the form, I remember noticing that the form did not show in the preview pane, only the body text did. You had to actually open the item in order to see the form. This would tell me that the body text was working at one point, even in an impaired fashion. I have removed the form entirely from the server as well as my machine, and am going to install fresh. Dianne, can you attach a copy of the form that you would like me to use? I would like to use the enhanced version, but since we almost never actually OPEN items (we use the preview pane for reading most of the time), having the form show there as well would be very helpful.

I have let everyone know that the form is out of commission for this week due to maintainence. When I install the form, I am going to do it from a machine that I do not normally use, so that I am certain of exactly what is installed where, and that there are no signatures enabled (just to be sure), though I was very careful about this before.

Diane

I would like to get some traction on this...i have nowhere to go with it myself. Everything appears to be working...no other troubles on Outlook or Exchange with forms or anything else. I suspect is an interaction(?), but I think we might have to arrange for you to take a more direct look (if that would help). Thoughts?
