Help- Corrupt oversize PST. Tried everything.

Thanks, for the info on importing to a new pst. I have the old ansi format (but in a relatively new profile in Outlook 2010. No idea how that happened) and found a way to repairit but forget what I did last week (gone fishing for 4 days, so my brain did a reset).

I'll create a new profile and do an import. That should inoculate me against future problems.

I successfully created a new profile with new non-ansi pst file then imported all folders (dozens of them) into the new structure. email works fine. Problem is my old structure with inbox is still there and still receiving email. That is, new email loades to BOTH inboxes. the new one is set as default. What's going on?

Also, the import did not import rules; I lost them all.

Rules never import. Do you have the old profile? Load it up, export the rules then switch back to the new one. If you deleted the old one, you could use System Restore the profile and recover the rules - could try setting the old pst file as default and see if they are accessible.

Go to file Account Settings - is the old acct in the profile? Delete it from the Email account tab. Or you could remove it from the send and receive group- Ctrl+Alt+S to open the dialog. Then edit, select he old account and change the setting for checking mail.

Too late, old acct gone. I figured out why it was still getting email. Now I understand how Outlook can receive email from multiple sources/accounts (Yahoo, Gmail, etc...). I was getting the same email twice from Att/Yahoo since both profiles had same email addr. I changed the old one to "null@pacbell.net" which of course cut off the flow, but then I started getting a prompt for a valid email addr when it tried to download email. That's when the lightbulb went off. Forgot I could do what you describe below (bold).

you can fix outlook corrupted or damage files from following these steps

• open my computer and go to the given location
  
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12
  
• open SCANPST.EXE.
  
• browse the corrupted file and then click on start. your pst file will be repaired.
  

if you have large pst file more than 2 GB then you can also repair pst file from pst recovery tool.
