Microsoft Outlook 2003 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available

I HAVE done uninstall, reinstall, inbox repair tool, started in safe mode but did the same thing.

any help would be great. i am on windows 7 home 64 bit

what add ins are you using?

What are you doing when it stops working? Does it work at all?

Did you try a new profile?

no add ins that i know of.

I am opening outlook, GO TO THE CALANDER THEN then in about 1 minute i get the error message

yes, i tried a new profile..

I have also removed, reinstalled, repaired i even bought outlook 2010 and can not install that program AS WELL.

Upgrading rarely fixes problems.

did you try Safe mode? To open Outlook in Safe mode: Close Outlook then hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon. You'll get a message asking if you want to start in Safe mode. Click Ok.

Does it work if you stay out of the calendar? If so, the view may be corrupt. Close Outlook, press windows key + R to open the Run command type or paste

outlook /cleanviews

in the open field and press Enter.

Yes, opened in safe mode, didn't do anything. 30 seconds later error occurred.

I am really stumped

Try cleanviews - it will wipe out any custom views you might be using though.

Try scanpst on the data file and if that fails, create a new data file. That will get outlook open - and hopefully the old one will import.

how do you create a new data file? I had done the scanpst before but will do again

Hi,

I have the same problem, I have followed the advice to the point of outlook /cleanviews without a resolution. I didn't understand the advice past this point, can someone help further?

Outlook starts opening fine, it is receiving e-mails (ans sending) in the few seconds before it stops working. My problem starts when the REMINDERS pop up appears, this is when I receive the 'MS Office Outlook has stopped working' message. I have tried to turn off any reminders to see if this is causing the problem but only have a window of opportunity which last about 30 seconds before it stops working. I have 1 reminder which I cannot find!

OK, I am STILL having a problem. I was able to get Outlook2003 up and running, and provided I did not exit out

the program was ok. When I exited out or had to restart the computer I get the samr

message. I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. I only need calendar and contacts. I am not

that knowledgeable with Outlook2003.

Please help!!!:(

This *should* fix it for both of you - assuming outlook 2003 for both, go to File, Data File Management - select your default data file (it might be your only data file) and click Open Folder location button. Leave windows Explorer open and close the Data file manager dialog and outlook. Rename the pst - you can add old to the beginning of the filename.

Go to Control panel, find Mail and edit the profile - create a new data file in the profile and set it as default (if you have more than one data file).

Open Outlook. is it working ok now? Once you are sure its working, go to file, Import and import the renamed pst file.

After many hours of trying I managed to sort mine and has been working fine since. My problem turned out to be with a reminder. I could send and receive e-mails for the few seconds as Outlook was opening but the error message came up as the reminder box appeared. I managed to find all tasks and appointments with reminders and remove the reminder. When I had done this for all I was able to open successfully. Took a long time to complete as I only had a window of about 30 seconds to find reminders and remove before it shutdown. Hope you get sorted
