Forwarding Exchange Email without meeting updates

We had an employee that left recently that of whom we had their Exchange email forwarded to their replacement. The mail is forwarding as it should, but we are having a weird issue with the new employee's calendar that we can't quite figure out. Whenever a meeting that both the previous employee and the new employee have on their calendar gets deleted from the previous employee's calendar, it will also get deleted from the new employee's calendar. Upon playing around try to figure out what's going on, I've also noticed that if I add a meeting to the previous employee's calendar, it will also be added to the new employee's calendar. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening, and how I can just delete meetings from the previous employee's calendar without it affecting the new employee's calendar?

How are you "forwarding" it? I think if you add the former employees address as a smtp address in the forwarded to account, that it work better - you'll need to either delete the former employee's mailbox or give it a different smtp address then put the old smtp address as a second address on the other mailbox - all mail to the former address will go directly into the forwarded mailbox.

Another option is to give the forwarded account full access rights to the former mailbox so its added to their profile so they can monitor the mailbox. If they don't have send as permission to the former mailbox, they'll be forced to reply using their own email address. I would use this method if you need to keep the mailbox for discovery or legal reasons or if the person may come back. If they'll never come back and you don't need to keep the mailbox, put the address on the forwarded mailbox.
