Creating a URL from a message body excerpt before forwarding

Hi,

I would like to ask for help on the following:

I am getting e-mails with a standardized format eg

Event Number: 123456
Date: 08/01/2014
Customer: ABC
Event Narrative: xyz


The event number is a unique identifier in another system and added to a standard URL prefix, this becomes a link that can go directly into the system e.g. https://forums.slipstick.com/123456

I would want to forward the initial message, merge the event numbervwith the link prefix and embedd the full link into the forwarded message.

In a perfect world, the event number in the original message would be fitted with that link:

Event Number: 123456
Date: 08/01/2014
Customer: ABC
Event Narrative: xyz

As long as the event number is always identified as such, you can use regex to grab it - http://www.slipstick.com/developer/regex-parse-message-text/ - then put it together as strURL = http://domain/ & M.SubMatches(1).

Putting it together with code link this to create a hyperlink is a little harder, but doable as long as the messages are in html format.

Thanks Diane. I am honoured to get feedback by THE Master. Please give me a few days to explore this - not an expert on VBA so I have to dig through some other material to get this done.
