Do fields in Outlook have ID's?

Hi

I have a question concerning the fields in the Outlook pane; I'm talking about when you click on the left hand pane on the Inbox (or any other folder for that matter) and in the right hand pane there is a list of fields presenting all messages:

From, Subject, Date received,Size etc

I was wondering do these fields have a unique ID number attached to them?
The reason I ask is for development purposes we have a client who wants to modify the layout of these fields:

For example, they wish to replace the "From" field and change it for the "To" field.

However, we are talking about a multi national company here with Outlook clients using around 15 different languages.............Does this mean that there is a different ID for the "To" field for every language used.

For example, English = xxx1, French xxx2 etc etc

I hope I was clear (!)
