Outlook 2013 instant search fields greyed out

I am using Outlook 2013 32 bit on a Windows 7 64 bit OS. Outlook instant search and indexing works fine but the additional fields that I added under the main search field are greyed out (from, to, subject). I looked all over the internet and tried many different things (scanpst on all ost files, new profile, disabling/reenabling Windows 7 seach in programs and features) but cannot fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

if you type fromname) in the search field does it find mail from that person?




I don't recall seeing a situation where they were grayed out... does it work in Safe mode?

Yes, search and indexing is fine. I can click on from, subject, ..., in the toolbar and search appropriately. /safe and /safe:3 did not work.

i'm having the same problem. Outlook 2013 (Office 2013 64 bit) on Windows 7 64 bit.

recreating the Outlook profile didn't help.
