Trying to open contacts pst. file in outlook 365

I recently migrated from Office 2007 to Office 365. Before doing so, I backed up all my personal folders and contacts into 2 separate pst files and saved them to my desktop. My old outlook profile in outlook 2007 was called simply "outlook". My new profile in outlook 365 is called "outlook 365." I still have the old profile saved and am prompted for which profile to open when opening Outlook.

Here's the issue - in setting up my new profile, I opened (not imported) the pst file with all my personal folders. It worked just fine and I have all my old emails and folders. Yay!!! In trying to do the same with my contacts pst file ... no deal. It looks like it works, but my contacts are not there. I'm opening the address list and looking at all the drop downs but my contacts are not there.

I closed Outlook 365 and opened my old Outlook profile and my contacts are all there (all 2000 of them.) I exported those contacts to another pst file in case the old one was corrupt and saved it to my desktop under another name. I then closed the old profile and reopened the new profile and tried again. File-Import/Export-Open DataFile-Browse-Select new file. Still no deal.

Can someone please help me copy my contacts from my old profile into my new profile? Sick of trying to figure this out and don't want to risk crashing.

If you open the new exported data file in the new profile in Outlook, are the contacts in the Contacts folder?
 
Yes. After getting phone support from Microsoft directly, I found that the contacts were sitting in the contacts folder (people icon at the bottom left of my screen), but not pointing to the address book (upper right in the tool bar). So we configured the folder to point to the address book and I'm back in business!!
 
Rather than enable the folder as an address book, you should move or copy the contacts to the contacts folder in your new mailbox. Then close that pst file.

If you don't have any contact groups (DLs) you can copy the contacts but if you use contact groups, move the contacts and the groups. Just select all (ctrl+A) then drag or use the move to folder or copy to folder command and put them in the contacts in your mailbox.
