Diane’s most useful article ‘Sharing Outlook.com Calendars’ – last revised in April – explained that outlook.com calendars can only be shared view-only with desktop Outlook 2016 because the latter cannot manage the calendar permissions required for a read-write share.
If this is still true, it seems a slightly bizarre lack of functionality in desktop Outlook. DAK if an upgrade for this is anywhere on the O365 roadmaps?
