My wife and I both have Outlook.com Premium accounts using our own domain name. I have shared my calendar with my wife and she has shared her calendar with me. This works well however she does not see the default Birthday Calendar I have created from my contacts.
I have tried to share it from Outlook.com but there doesn't appear to be an option. I have also tried to share from my calendar in Outlook 2016 for Mac by adding her in the permissions but get an error message saying Outlook cannot receive the permissions from the exchange server. I therefore tried in Outlook 365 but the option to share the calendar is greyed out.
Do you have any suggestions please.

The birthday calendar outlook.com creates cannot be shared. If you turn that off and create your own birthday calendar, you can share it.

Many thanks Diane. If I created a bespoke Birthday Calendar will it work in the same way e.g if you enter date of birth will it calculate age at next birthday? Or is that functionality only in default one which is linked to contacts?

it doesn't do that now, that I am aware of... but it will let you share it with others.
