when using the 'search people' box to find contact, the box with 'press enter' comes up. When I press enter, the box disappears and name clears from search. I am finding this behavior on both the win10 and win11. I upgraded one computer to win11 on Monday, after which I synced the win10 computer, .pst file to win 11 computer. I think, but am not certain, that i briefly see the window listing available contacts appear, before disappearing.

computers have been restarted several times. I have run scanpst on win11 .pst, a couple of times. computer has been re-indexed.
the contacts are there, in contacts to be accessed manually, but....

why has search people suddenly started crashing?

thanks diane. the win11 outlook is ver 2410 (build 18129.20158 click to run) current channel
win10 is the same.

both are set to not update (as all of my software, except antivirus. Updates are done manually, towards end of month). the last couple of months, when I let them attempt to update, they both said 'up to date', ie: nothing was updated, that I am aware of.

as a side note: I am curious about you still using outlook 2016. as I remember, the only reason that I upgraded to 2021 and then 2024 was that Outlook was no longer working with exchange in 2016, which I was using for calendar to iphone. Is this not correct>

Whoa!!! After I replied to you, above, I tried Outlook again, both on Win10 and Win11 machines. Now people search is working again, in its usual round about way (why would we need to 'press enter' to search when entering something in a search bar???). They had not been working for several days, through several restarts and reboots. Bizarre.

my question about Office 2016 is still there. I think I would be happy to go back to Outlook 2016 if it would work with exchange for calendar sync. I presume that you aren't using exchange to sync outlook calendar to an iphone.
