Cannot seem to use BCM Database Tool on SQL Server 2008

I am trying to install BCM onto a sql 2008 server for shared usage. The

server is running Windows 2008 32 bit.

I have an instance "CSSSQL01\MSSMLBIZ" that I installed as a local admin

account "CSSSQL01\sqlsmlbizadmin" I can use SSME to connect to this

instance, using Windows Authentication (logged in as this user).

However, when I use Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 Database Tool

to try to Create a New Database, I receive this error message "Cannot

retrieve the list of SQL Server instance. Please make sure that SQL Server

2005 or SQL Server 2005 Express is installed and that the service is

running." Clicking OK closes the program.

Any ideas?

I only saw one other thread about this and it ended in August 2008 without

an answer.

Thank you,

chuck

This could happen if you are running a 64 bit edition of SQL 2005 . Also

note that the BCM admin tool will not work with SQL 2008

Thank you, this is the first time I have explicitly seen that BCM Admin Tool

does NOT work on sql 2008.

Any problems with backing up a BCM database from an existing 2005 instance

and restoring that onto sql 2008?

Again, thank you for the info about the BCM admin tool NOT working on sql

2008.

Not that I have heard of , but clients connecting to the shared database

will not be able to recognize the change

The BCM Sql instance must be using a specific TCP port that BCM

clients use to connect to sql.
