I have just moved from XP to Windows 7 and found that my Outlook 2000 no longer worked. I tried several of the possible work-rounds, but decided that I was wasting my time, so changed to Outlook 2007. After many trials and tribulations I moved my mail folders (via Outlook Express) and got nearly everything set up OK. I now get asked for my password when recieving mail about 50% of the time where I never had problems before. Ok it's a fast wireless connection (g not n). This is just an annoyance, cancelling the window and retrying typically works.




The problem I now have is that in the place where the Task list should be in the to-do list is the error message 'The operation failed. An object could not be found'



I tried restarting Outlook using the /resettodobar switch as mentioned in the archived (and unsolved) thread 'Problem with To-Do Bar and Task List' but that has had no effect whatsoever.




Help very much appreciated, as I'm going to persevere since my phone sync (therein lies another sorry tale) only syncs well with Outlook - I tried Web Mail (not included in Windows 7!!!), but gave up on that too as it seems to be only a mail client as opposed to Outlook's co-ordinated Calendar, Tasks etc.

While i don't think this has anything to do with the problems, do you mean you exported from Outlook 2000 to OE then imported from OE into Outlook 2007?

That *should* work. One thing we've noticed is that many people don't add the space - outlook.exe[space]/resettobar

Are you using a profile you created in Outlook 2000? Try a new profile to see if it works. (Don't delete the current profile yet.) A new profile might solve your password problem too.

(BTW, i just moved that post into this section - it's archived because its from the old Microsoft NNTP servers and we can no longer post back as the servers were shut down. Its really better to start a new thread though.)

I found another thread which included info re multiple data files for the same pst file. I did have multiples, but removing them and resetting the to-do bar again had no effect.

I had the same issue. I tried everything in every forum I came across. Things I tried with no success:

1) Start Outlook with /resettodobar option

2) Deleted profile and made new one with different name

3)Deleted all files in outlook folder (Do not try this at home if you do not know what you are doing)

The one that finally did it was in this forum.

They run the integrity check on the Exchange server. Mine found a ton of errors on two accounts. I ran the script with -DetectOnly turned off which fixed all the errrors. After that I made them restart outlook and everything worked perfectly afterwords.
