Help please my Outlook is frozen

Hi

I just added a second personal folder (*.pst) to my outlook 2007 and the whole program just froze and I cannot do anything with it. The mouse arrow dissappears whilst hovering over the page but reappeares anywhere else; like the task bar. The only way I can exit Outlook is by the task manager.

After closing the Outlook program I went to the source folder of the (*.pst) and used "scanpst.exe" to recover the file, which it did but Outlook still freezes when opened and I can still see the added personal folder.

Is there a way to disengage that second personal folder without un-installing the whole progam?

Uninistalling won't help. Go to Control panel, search for Mail and edit the profile - remove the pst from the data files tab.

What you suggested did the trick and cleared my Outlook program.

Scanpst did find errors but I deleted the log file and didn't note the content, but the repair was successfully. However when I reopened the same personal folder it froze once more so I repeated your instructions.

I did manage to get done what I set out to do though, which was to create another PST file for the current year (2013) which I do every year about this time and archive the previous one.

I would be interested to know what's happening but at least I'm up and running.

It's hard to say what caused problems - it sounds like the pst was corrupt, but its also possible the profile was corrupt and removing the pst removed the corruption.
