This is a follow up to help already received from Diane Poremsky -

I do computing work for a living here in San Diego, but haven't had much experience with IMAP. Purchased a 10-account IMAP package with the express intention of replacing a single Hosted Exchange account and helping several other people sync Outlook 2013 folders, contacts, etc. between home and work computers. This is all for one of my clients; their one domain name.

Well, the mail folders sync correctly after your help, but not contacts. The service provider passed the buck to Microsoft, and after finally reaching a tier 2 tech at MS he said syncing contacts could not be done without Exchange. His description on how to do that didn't include IMAP features at all. We want to do away with Exchange and stay with IMAP.

So, based on your experience please let me know if we can or cannot sync contacts between computers via IMAP. If so, please let me know your professional rate and related information. This would be for syncing one person's home and work laptops - Win 8 and Win 7. Finally, if you recommend a third party utility that really works well in syncing contacts please let me know.

Thanks,
John

IMAP is email only - you need to use an addin or other service for contacts and calendar. If it's a gmail imap account, there are several utilites that will sync calendar and contacts - for other imap accounts, your options are limited.
See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sharing/sharing-outlook-calendar-and-contacts/ for more information and other utilities that can help.
Thank you again for your help.
This is not Gmail. Do you recommend any of the utilities that sync contacts?

Try Bynari Connector - it works with many imap accounts.

Hello again -

When I asked Bynari Connector a few questions their reply was to install their software for the trial period and give it a try. This may be a reasonable suggestion, but I didn't feel comfortable doing it that way.

2 things - can you recommend any other third party product that will allow my client to sync Contacts on their computers?
and
Is there any additional information that will allow a slow-witted individual such as myself to understand and implement your article, "Sync calendar and contacts using Outlook.com" using GoDaddy IMAP accounts and Cox service?

Sorry if this is tedious, am in a position where I have to sync Contacts. IMAP accounts already sync folders just fine.

Thanks,
John

Honestly, anything is better than trying to sync with outlook.com, unless you also use outlook.com for email.

you really should test bynari with one mailbox - i think its worth it.
