Outlook 2003 SP3. I have serveral accounts on Exchange 2007. In Outlook my default account is MAPI connection. When I try to add any other accounts as IMAP connections to the same server they all display the folders and emails stored in the default MAPI account. If i add an IMAP account from an external server the folders and emails display correctly. I have tried changing the default account to one of the IMAP accounts, also tried completely deleting the MAPI account, but all IMAP accounts still will only show the folders/mail from the original MAPI account. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It sounds like the accounts don't have their own username and password and they are using the credentials of your main account.

Ah but they do. It is all set up in the IMAP account settings, correct server, correct email address, correct user name. Exactly the same settings in Thunderbird work correctly as expected. But when the account loads in Outlook it displays the folders for the MAPI account, nothing else. Also if I check the IMAP folders against the account the folders for the MAPI account are being displayed. This is happening on several computers but not all, and only for accounts hosted on Exchange. Any ideas? Thanks.

An IMAP data file is added for each account, but the contents of the folders belong to the main Exchange account? If you mark messages read or delete some, does the deletion reflect in the MAPI mailbox?

I've seen an imap account in one profile add it's data file to all profiles. But the contents of the folders is for the correct account.

Yes both are correct:

  • An IMAP data file is added for each account, but the contents of the folders belong to the main Exchange account
  • If I mark messages read or delete some, does the deletion reflect in the MAPI mailbox - yes it does.

This seems very basic but I have been unable to solve it for weeks now.

Thanks
