My company uses an exchange account for e-mail, and calendar, outlook professional plus 2010. Up until a few weeks ago, I was able to upload the calendar to Office.com, for purposes of sharing with myself so I can sync the calendar with my personal calendar. I began getting errors, and requests for passwords, so I deactivated the publishing. When I go to republish the calendar, I get the following error:

"The upload of 'calendar' failed. The next upload attempt occurs with the next send/receive. There was a problem uploading the file to the server."

I read in a different thread that it was a known problem with the server (in late 2009) Is there a similar problem now? I don't want to have to send my whole calendar to myself everytime there is a change.

From what I understand, not many people were using it and it doesn't fit in with their plans. Well, percentage-wise, not many. even .01% of millions of outlook users is no small number.

They did the same thing with their free/busy server a few years ago.

If you have a web server that supports WebDAV (iis and many apache servers do) you can publish using it. Diane might have a macro that will forward appointments to your personal address as they are created.

Shucks! It was such a convenience to have times blocked off on my google calendar as they were created. I don't think my company supports the WebDAV option. (It's grayed out under the publishing options) So maybe your second suggestion may work. Diane???

Just figured out that this is why my work calendar isn't syncing to google anymore. I have OL2007 and no admin rights, so publishing was ideal. Is there any way to direct OL to send the .ics file somewhere else on a periodic basis?

Thinkng about whether I could set up a macro or something that would automaticaly email the .ics via "share" to my gmail account, then have an IFTTT recipe or something move the file to dropbox or some shared place.

You can publish to any WebDAV server - only Office.com was discontinued. I haven't looked at macros, but you can send the calendar by email - it's the Share > Email option. (I think 2007 can share by email.)

Thanks Diane. Can I have it sent automatically? Where do I tell it which WebDAV to use?

I'll have to check on the WebDAV question when I'm back in the office and have office 2007, but there should be a field to enter your WebDAV information.

on the macro, i think so, but will need to check for sure - i don't have any macros ready to go. According to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/bb175038(v=office.12).aspx it is possible, and they provide a sample macro.

I found it, you have to right click the calendar itself on the navigation window to get it to ask for WebDAV. The "publish" link that appears there is only good for office online. Here's to hoping that iCalx.com works to host an ICS file....
