Calendar search failing & wrong indexlocation showing..OL2010

In the windows search setup I moved the location of the index file to another drive...sucessfully.

But when I open the search tools in OL 2010, it won't let me select a new location..it keeps defaulting to the old location. Interestingly, the calendar search is completely dead ( I have multiple icloud calendars)...

Any suggestions are welcome.

Outlook 2010 32 bit on Win 7 x 64, no exchange.
 
Did you restart the service or restart the computer after making the change? Have you allowed enough time for the index to be regenerated? (I'm guessing the calendar problem is because the search index won't stay on the new location. )
 
It turns out that the outlook search index must set to be in the same folder as the Windows search index. That was one problem. I'm not sure if there are two search indexes or Outlook 'depends' on the Windows search to do its own thing. It was nicer when I could search Outlook using the main search.

The other problem of Outlook search not finding calendar items was due to the situation with icloud. Outlook 2010 won't find anything in the icloud calendars...It did until around November of 2014. My guess is that's when Apple changed the icloud integration program to 2.x. I think you've mentioned that in another place on this site.

My workaround was to use Code Two Synch for Icloud to do a one way synch from the icloud calendars, where I enter my appointments, into the main Outlook calendar (which I have set not to display).

Ah... yes, I thought you were trying to move the entire indexing file, not just outlook's. Yes, they use one index and it's all or nothing when you move them.

I don't remember search no longer working but I have so much junk crammed in my head, it could be lost in a corner. :) I have to check something else in iCloud and will check that too.
