Change POP account to Forwarder - What happens in Outlook?

When I change a POP email account in GoDaddy.com to just a forwarder sending to an account with another ISP, what happens to the original/saved messages and files in Outlook 2016? What settings changes should I make to keep the messages and files for the original account intact after that account has been changed to a forwarder only?

If the account was configured in Outlook as pop3, removing the email account will not remove the pst file that holds the old mail. If it's set up as IMAP, you'll need to export to a pst before removing the account.
