Outlook version
Outlook 2010 64 bit
Email Account
IMAP
Hello,

I have 3 imap accounts set up in Outlook 2010. AOL my main email address, Yahoo, and Gmail.

I only use GMAIL for Youtube stuff.

Yahoo is for everything that AOL Might block out. Yall know how they are Lol.

Anyways I have rules set up when mail from GMAIL ACCOUNT comes in.. MOVE messages FROM inbox to AOL 'S INBOX. but for some reason when I go to that rule under rules its unchecked and turned off why?

I like to read everything in 1 place and not have to open the gmail triangle, then the yahoo little triangle to show all folders I'd just rather have everything moved to the AOL INBOX.

Suggestions,
Thanks
Christopher

So, the gmail rule moving/copying from gmail to aol folders? I'm guessing the AOL account is not fully loaded when Outlook starts checking gmail so the rule is invalid.

Have you considered setting up forwarding at gmail.com to the aol account? That could allow you to remove the gmail account from your profile if you aren't using it to send mail... provided aol isn't filtering it. If it is, I'd probably use POP3 with gmail instead of imap.

oh, no I didnt think of that.

I just noticed, changing the rule to COPY to aol inbox then delete from original account so far isnt erroring . Odd for some reason OL has a problem with MOVING emails to another account.

Normally Outlook can move mail, but because it's an imap, it behaves a little differently. If it works to use copy, use it.

Now my last concern is how come when copying emails from one folder to another it unhides the folders?

Meaning that when it copies that little triangle > shows all the folders. Its like I have all those folders shut for a reason because I have no use for them since everything is getting moved to the main folder here is an example.

HOW IT SHOULD BE:

( and the only reason I have JUNK HIGHLIGHTED is to protect the emails that just came into my inbox as I took the screenshot) So I was trying to pick a folder that had nothing in it.

BUT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS:

Thanks,

Outlook automatically expands the folders when a new message is delivered or moved to it.

Is there no way to turn that off, the auto opening of folders? without having to switch to pop3?

after adding all my accounts to 2010 ( only 4) looks horrible and cluttered.
