Why can junk mail be from one’s own email address?

Some junk mails from one's own email address so that user is unable to block them in the outlook email. How can junk emails be created from one’s own email address and how to stop them in outlook or hotmail? Thank you.
 
the spammers can insert any address into the from field - they use their own smtp servers so the from address doesn't matter. (your email account was NOT compromised - they just faked the from field._

The only way to block the spam is with a rule that rejects mail from your own address- which is usually fine, unless you send yourself stuff from a website and enter your own address. The other way to block it is with dkim and spf set on the server (the admin needs to do this) - but if you reject mail with invalid spf or dkim records, you could block valid email.

Thanks for your answer. How to reject mail from one's own email address in outlook? Clicking on Block button does not work on one's own email address, right?

In addition, is there any way to automatically block junk mails because user does not want to see the junk mails and click Block button every day?
 
I use a rule and type my smtp address in the from field

The junk mails are in the Junk Email folder. When user clicks the Junk Email, it displays all the junk mails including one’s own email address. Can you instruct how to apply the rule to reject one’s own email address?
 
If the mail is being moved to the junk mail folder, the rule won't work on it - junk moves before rules. This is an outlook.com account? Was your account moved to the new server on Office 365 yet?
 
I am talking about outlook junk mail. The Junk Mail has one's own email address. It is impossible to block one's own email, right? My question is how to block junk mails with use's own email address or there is no way to do it and user has to delete them one by one.
 
Once they are in the junk mail folder, you have a couple of options: delete certain messages one by one, use run rules now to clear some out fast, or empty the entire folder.
