Folks, i would apprecaite your help with the following problem.

I get the Error Message " The Operation Failed" regularly when I try to

respond to or send an email to multiple addressees. Sometimes it can be

solved by removing addressees one by one until the email goes. But this

approach is time consuming. i am using Outlook via the web to access my

corporate email.

Any help or pointers towards a solution to this irrating problem would be

gratefully received.

How many addresses? Did you ask your admin what the max number of addresses

allowed is?

I would love to know if there's been any resolution to this. We've been having the same problem with just 1 user who has a new computer and the same setup (i.e., programs) as all the other users. Its been very tough to combat. I've reinstalled Office, created a new non-cached Outlook profile, disabled all add-ins and stopped using Word as email editor and still this problem persists!

Any further ideas?

Do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook?

Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try again; you'd

still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part of the virus

scanner. For more details see;

http://www.msoutlook.info/question/20

If that doesn't help, include some configuration information of your own and

exact steps to reproduce the error. As you did not quote the original issue

and replied to a very old thread in a mirrored forum, the original

discussion is not visible in the original newsgroup.

Thank you for the reply. I do not have an integrated virus scanner with Outlook. We are using Trend Micro Client/Security Agent ver 15.1.1142 with Worry Free Business and it appears to be file-based only on the client.

We are running Exchange 2003 on a small business server with SP2. Client is Outlook 2007. The error it generates when the user hits the Send button on an email, usually a "Reply All", just states "The operation failed". She then goes through and removes the internal individuals one by one until the Send command eventually goes through. The application log on the client says Event ID 27 with "The operation failed" in the description with nothing more. The error is immediate upon hitting the Send button.

Thanks for any additional ideas.

Hi,

Microsoft Outlook won’t allow you to send e-mails if wrong protocols are selected as the default protocol. Usually TCP/IP is the default protocol used by most of the users. To change the protocol settings, click ‘Start’ and then select ‘Run’. Type ‘ncpa.cpl’ and press ‘Enter’ key. This will open a new window entitled by ‘Network Connections’. Right-click on your connection and select ‘Properties’. Select the ‘General’ tab and check the checkbox near ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)’ is selected. Click ‘OK’ and click on the ‘Yes’ button if a restart prompt message is displayed. After you reboot your computer, you will be able to send e-mails as before.
