In my job at a law firm, we deal with a lot of calendaring. However, most

cases proceed on a set schedule with certain hearings and deadlines (ie.

pretrial conference on ____, witness list due on _____, etc). Is there any

way that I can create a template in my Outlook Calendar so that I can just

add the case name and the due date without having to type out the entire

entry everytime? Depending on the type of case, there are between 12 and 20

entries per case.

Do you need one calendar item with the schedule in the body or the ability

to enter the data one and create appointments for each deadline?

What I would like to be able to do is set up a generic version of all the

deadlines such as:

Deadline to file expert witness list

Deadline to file lay witness and exhibit list

Deadline to conduct mediation

Deadline to file Proposal for Settlement

Pretrial Conference

Trial Period

Then, I would like to be able to add the individual case name to the

beginning and assign a date such as:

Jones v. Smith - Deadline to file expert witness list - [assigned to

February 4, 2010]

There may not be a way to do it, I just figured I would check because it

gets a little redundant entering the same information time and time again...

Thanks!!!!!!

Where there's a will there's a way... ...Pun intended, MJ.

In this case there are several possible ways:

1 Create a custom form that applies your information to the subject, category etc

2 VBA macro that opens a form, and an appointment, and fills in the appointment the same as above

3 VBA macro that searches for specific text in your appointments and changes it, allowing you to use shorthand.

4 Same as 3 but have the macro run every few minutes, from the start of outlook.

In your case, I think you'd be more comfortable with item 1 or 2. If you look up Custom forms VBA for appointments, you can get an idea of how to create customized forms that will run, enabling you to build an appointment. You can then create several of them, to fill in some Automated text, so you only have to activate it, put in some info (start\end, location, any recipients), and then click OK to have it save\send the appointment\meeting. Of course, you'll have to look up the VBA for yourself, and make your own comparisons for now. I'll see what I can pull off later.
