Quick Parts - font changes

Sometimes when replying to emails in Outlook 2010 using Quick Parts, the font of the Quick Part text changes.

For example, the Quick Parts were setup as Calibri, but they sometimes paste into the reply as TimeNew Roman.

Looking at the HTML source of the message, this seems to happen when the original message has MsoNormal setup with Times as it's font.

Is there a way to avoid the font change?

Thanks,

Dave

I'm not aware of any tricks you can use to avoid the font change. Do you get the paste button when you use quick parts? If so, you can choose source formatting. Actually, check your default paste settings. Using source formatting might do it.

Changing to source formatting didn't make a difference - thanks for the idea, though.

Darn, I hoped that would work. Are you pasting in the middle of sentences or as new paragraphs?

It's typing in a greeting at the top of the reply. hitting enter, the pasting in the quick part. The greeting typed manually is in Calibri, but the quick part changes to Times.

That sounds an awful lot like the last line problem we see with signatures - the last paragraph mark in a message may not be styled like the signature.

What font is your default for messages? Is it assigned to the +Body style?

I'll try to repro it - I'm pretty sure its something goofy with styles. Word has some well known problems copying and pasting - whether the style is kept depends on copying the paragragh mark. It's caused a lot of grief for a lot of users over the years and with Outlook using the word editor, the problems followed.

Ok... i think i might have repro'd it. I have times set as the +Body style but changed the font in Stationery and Fonts to comic sans. When I insert a QP created using 'insert text only', it uses the +Body style, not the font assigned in Fonts. When i insert a QP saved using 'insert in own para.' it saved the style (font= baskerville) assigned to the text and uses it.

I'm still trying to figure 'text only' QP out - in one case it seemed to use the Body style, but in another, it kept the font i used when i created it.
