Outlook 2010 32 bit

This is my setup:

- PC1 runs Win 7 and Outlook 2010. It has my personal Inbox called Jon Local.

- PC2 runs Win XP and Outlook 2003. It holds my company data and is Server.

I want to change this setup so that I only have all my Outlook data on PC1, running under Outlook 2010. So, I need to migrate the data from PC2 to PC1.

Not sure if I need to use the Import Export Wizard, just copy the pst file or what. I want the rules coming across, the entire folder structure and the email account data (i.e. pop3 settings etc).

Questions:

1. How do I do this?

2. Can I export the account settings? No idea what all the pop settings are and the passwords, so would be nice if I can export that and import into Outlook 2010.

3. I need to have the company data from PC2 seperate from PC1. Will it give me two Inboxes (which is what I want)?

Thanks,

Jon

1. just copy the pst file.

2. No. You can export options from the registry, but exporting the account settings creates a corrupt profile.

3. Yes, you can use two inboxes - the default in Outlook 2010 is data file per account.

See move outlook to a new computer for a step by step.

Thanks for the link. What do I do about the send and receive email accounts? I've no idea what the settings or passwords are.

You can get the account details from account settings. Passwords are stored in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Both Servers\9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676 - where each account is stored under an index key in the format of 000000x. IMAP and POP accounts will have a key named POP3 Password or IMAP Password. Unfortunately, the password is encrypted.

Importing/Exporting the index keys is not recommended - they contain id's and paths that tie them to the old computer and result in problems with the profile.

You could try exporting the password key and matching it to the account on the new computer - then import just the key that holds the password, editing the index key so it matches the new computer.

For example, i identifed 9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676\00000005 as my gmail account. Export the key and remove all the other values except the password - leaving this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Both Servers\9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676\00000005]

"IMAP Password"=hex:02,01,00,00,00,d0,8c,9d,df,01,15,d1,11,8c,7a,00,c0,4f,c2,\

97,eb,01,00,00,00,73,60,22,b2,8b,08,f5,44,8e,2b,58,60,9c,ae,6d,37,00,00,00,\

00,1c,00,00,00,02,01,00,00,00,00,d0,8c,9d,df,01,15,d1,11,8c,7a,00,c0,4f,c2,\

97,eb,01,00,00,00,73,60,22,b2,8b,08,f5,44,8e,2b,58,60,9c,ae,6d,37,00,00,00,\

00,1c,00,00,00

Now set the account up on the new computer, where it is 00000002 - change the 00000005 in the export to 00000002 and save, then run it to add the key to the registry. Repeat for each account.

I have no idea if it will work... but if not, there are password recovery tools available or you'll need to have the passwords reset. Unfortunately the only ones I am aware of are not free. (http://www.stellarinfo.com/password-recovery.htm - $44)

I managed to get my password data in the end, with a bit of guesswork thrown in!
