outlook 2007 won't play video attachments

I am helping my mother Win XP OS with Outlook 2007. Video attachments in her email won't play when she clicks on them. She's got Quicktime, Windows Media player. They play when we put them on the desktop then play, but she doesn't want to do that, she wants to be able to just click on the video attached to her email and play it. Why won't they play?
 
What exactly happens when she double clicks on the attachments? Any error message?

They won't be embedded in HTML email - outlook doesn't support active content - but they should open in a media player and play.
 
i'm not sure what the error message is, or if it just doesn't open them. we did just reinstall QTime player, and one that didn't open before, opened. so maybe problem solved?
