Some Mailto items dont work

I’m in the process of converting my wife’s business email from Live Mail to Outlook 2007 on a Windows 7 system. I’ve ran into several strange problems that I will post questions about starting with this:

In the imported emails there are mailto wraps, some of which do not work. In that they don’t get formatted for clicking on. There appear to be two styles: brackets and no brackets.

John Doe [mailto:john.doe@live.com]

mailto: john.doe@live.com

With bracket items don’t work. I forwarded one of the emails to my office where we also use outlook 2007 and the both styles work. So is there a compatibility setting in outlook for this? What gives!

Are these the address in the To /from field or in the message body? I don't think it's so much a compatibility thing but an import issue - import is not perfect, especially with the email headers. Because of this, the to/from addresses may not work.

3rd party import utilities might do a better job - address magic and aid4mail specifically. Converting Outlook Messages and Calendars -
 
Thanks Diane, I went with Address Magic. after using it the newly imported email headers and links worked properly. however, I ran into a new problem. Not all emails were imported.

In windows Live Mail there are storage folders. In the main storage folder there are two sub folders, Personal and Business. Those both have subfolders as well. Some of the sub folders under personal were created but came up empty. I tried to import those folders individually using Address Magic and ran into some strange behavior. Address Magic shows the folders in question under the business folder even though in Live Mail they are clearly in the Personal storage folder. I tried to re-import them anyways and they still come over empty in Outlook although they clearly have many emails in them in Live Mail.
