Moving OUtlook 2003 from bad XP to Win 7 Pro 64 -- URGENT!

I was running Office 2003 under Windows XP Pro, on a disk with one partition for data and one for software. Then something (malware? A fix-it utility?) trashed XP so it wouldn't boot. Instead of reinstalling in the same place, I added a separate drive for software only and installed Win 7 Pro 64-bit. Then I reinstalled Office 2003. All my Outlook files are still on my former C: drive (now D) with XP. How do I get my new install to use these files? They have all my mail, addresses, and calendar data. I have found the locations of my original .PST and where the newly installed Outlook put them, but simply copying the old to the new doesn't work. I also note that my old Outlook.PST is dated 2009, which I guess is when I installed it -- does it nonetheless incorporate my current data? Are there other files I need to copy over? I have been without this stuff for over a week now, and I am behind on assignments as a result. ALSO: How do I put paragraph/line feeds into this post? Hitting Enter doesn't do it.

What happens when you try to copy from the old location to the new? Standard procedure is to find the old pst (typically at D:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) and copy it to the new drive - it can be placed any where, My Documents etc, so its easier to back up.

I use the first A/A button in the editor toolbar - Enter works in it.

My file search program, and Windows Explorer, both show the old outlook.pst at D:\documents and settings\All Users\Documents. But when I look at the file tree, either in WE (set to Show Hidden Files) or other programs, there is no Documents folder under All Users! The Win7 location is C:\Users\iberger\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook, and I can find that folder and find the newly minted Outlook.PST there. But it lacks my old contacts, e-mails, user templates, etc. So how do I copy the version on D:?

Sounds like the wrong .PST file ... keep looking. It should be dated more recently ... like around the last time Outlook was used on the XP partition.

Problem solved. (Now if only I knew how to embed a line feed so I could start a new paragraph!) -- I gave up trying to find the Documents folder in my dual-pane file manager. Instead I used the Search bar in the Start menu to find ALL the Outlook.PSTs in my system, opened a second instance of Windows Explorer, and dragged them one by one to the location on C: where Outlook now keeps them, re-starting Outlook each time, until I found the right one. (Turns out, that was on my E:\Data drive -- I must have accidentally moved it there.) ALL these PSTs had the same 2008 date, including the one from Aug. 19 this year, and all had e-mails going only up to 2008 except for that last one.

Two mysteries remain: (1) In April of this year I created an image of my hard drives on a separate drive -- why did the Outlook.PST in that April image include only info up to 2008? and (2) What was with the mysterious Documents directory that contained a PST file I could find and move but could not itself be found?

The first a/A button - when its blue you can use line feeds. line-feed.png. I don't know why LF don't work - unless it's an IE thing. (just tested it - LF work in chrome and firefox.)

Was the 200 pst an archive and you quite archiving in 2008?

Hard to say about the documents folder - the default pst folders in the app data paths are hidden files but user created folders aren't hidden. one possibility is that you didn't see it - too many other files and folders will do that, especially with a high resolution.
