Exactly how safe are supposed to be our Outlook Contacts, given the fact that Skype can access them? I never really thought of a Windows computer this way, but ever since we can actually tweak whether an (iOS or Android) app can access locally stored contacts, I've been suspicious about this part of Skype-Outlook inter-connectivity on plain Windows also.


It basically boils down to whether it's a local convenience-only feature, or the contacts' data and/or statistics gets transmitted via Skype to Microsoft servers. Probably the same doubt goes for Skype-Facebook connectivity.
 
If you set Skype up on one computer and can see the contacts when you log into Skype from another computer, they are synced up. In a quickie test here, Outlook contacts do not sync - i only have my usual Skype contacts.

As to whether this is safe, I'd say it's as safe as your account, which is probably as safe as your password is strong and uncompromised.
