I've been seeking a solution to this for years and am continually amazed that it doesn't seem to bother anyone else.

Our company deals with other companies. We need to store the email address, website address, telephone number, address etc. of these companies.

Now, within these companies there are individuals. Unsurprisingly all these individuals have the same address as the company, and sometimes the same telephone number.

So how do I store the contact information for the company, and then link it to the individual, their direct dial number and their personal mobile number?
 
Use BCM. :) Not really, it adds a layer of complexity you may not need. Plus, its buggy. Oh, and you use Mac.

On the windows side, I would use New Contact from company and a group by company view. I'll have to boot up my mac and see what the mac side offers.
 
For each contact there's a tab marked 'Organization'. This provides four columns 'Name', 'Title', 'Phone', 'Office' but doesn't allow me to enter anything - so I guess the info should be linked somehow to other contacts?

My instinct is that I want to be able to put the details of the comapny in the 'Contacts', and the details of each individual in this 'organization' window - but I suspect that's not the way it works.

'Help' gives me no help! If I type in 'Organization' the help is about something else. If I try 'What's new in Outlook for Mac 2011' it's equally silent on this issue.

I'm hoping you can come up with the missing link!
 
It looks like those fields are trying to pull in data from some directory - AD probably. Which is stupid for an outside address. Found a contact for someone in the AD - and yes, that is what it does. It has manager and direct reports sections, Details has the SMTP addresses and 'member of' information.

I don't see any way to link contacts together in outlook for mac.
