calendar time zones

I travel frequently to different time zones and am looking for a way to set events in the calendar with a fixed time that does not automatically adapt to time zone differences. For example I often run classes from 9am-5pm. I want the event to show as 9-5 no matter where I am in the world. Another issue is with repeating events like birthdays. Outlook changes them to be from midnight to midnight, then adjusts then to span 2 days when I travel. How do I create events that do not adapt to time zone differences?
 
Birthdays should be ok if you use outlook 2010 and up and the birthdays were created in these versions. Unfortunately, timed events will float - if you know an event will be for 9 -5 in the PT zone, you can click the Time Zone button and select the zone the appointment will be in. The other option is to not change the computer clock but that only works if you don't look at the computer's clock.
