Contact notes field replicating

Have been working on cleaning up outlook contacts the past few weeks. Exported data to Excel, made changes, imported data to update. Just noticed that all of my contacts now have duplicated info in the notes section. Sometimes 6 or more times. No emails or HTML info is copied. It's all text info (e.g., car make, place where contact was met, etc.). Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix? I see info on duplicate contacts (i.e., the entire form) but nothing on duplicated sections within the contact forms.

Are you syncing with a smartphone? That is the usual cause of duplicating the notes field.

Oh, is there a date above each duplication? I don't think this would apply to a pop account, but it could if there is an updated date - Help! My Contacts are being updated!
 
Thx! Yes, I am. I've been syncing with this phone for over a year with no problems. Noticed today that there are generally five date stamps in each contact note box, most on 5/30 within 5-6 minutes of each other. Can't think of anything different I was doing that day to cause this. My accounts are all pop accounts.

Here's an example. This grouping is repeated 5 times in the notes.

I don't think its the social connector "feature" but if you aren't using the people pane, disable the social connector in the file, options, addins.

If the old contacts weren't deleted from the devices before importing new, it's possible the contacts were merged. Do the dates at the top match your import attempts?
 
Thanks, again. Looks like most of my activity was on 5/23. I see several .pst file backups on that date but only one on 5/30. I'm still using 2010 Pro but I will disconnect the social connector feature.
 
iPhone SE/ios 10.3.2. i'm using itunes to sync. nothing in icloud. only sync/backup to hard drive.
