Hi. I'm stumped with this issue.
I use Microsoft 365 on my Windows PC (Windows 10). I keep a lot of information in Outlook Notes files.
My Microsoft Office information is shared via Microsoft Exchange, and I can see and edit email, notes, and contacts on my iPhone 15 with iOs 17.
A lot of my notes have tabs in them, as that's how I get material to line up, such as a list of events and their characteristics, like this image, which I'll try to insert here:
Issues:
1. When I view the notes on iPhone, items immediately do not line up consistently, as iPhone uses spaces instead of tabs. And the font is not a fixed-width font, such as Courier, as on an old typewriter, for those of you old enough to remember.
2. After I edit items on iPhone, or perhaps even if I don't, then eventually the same items on my PC in Outlook will no longer line up, as even on my PC the tabs have now been replaced with spaces. And, again, the font is not fixed-width. That looks like this, or usually much more misaligned:
I'd like to fix these issues if I can, preventing substitution of spaces for tabs. I can't be sure whether the substitution is happening on my PC in Outlook, or on the iPhone, or both.
If I cannot fix them, I'd like to know how to make items line up, and stay lined up.
One complexity is that I believe Outlook Notes in Microsoft 365 uses the same typeface (font) as Outlook email. So to switch to a fixed-width font, and then to pad out with the right number of spaces so columns of information line up, I'd have to switch to a fixed-width font for email as well. That's pretty clunky looking.
Any advice?
Thanks for your help.
