MS Outlook contacts with iPhone

I have just used iTunes to put my Outlook contacts onto my new iPhone. Looking at the formatting of my contacts on my iPhone - they are very mixed up. Since I have many hundreds of numbers I would like to get the 100% right way of correcting the way I should enter numbers in Outlook.

I live in the UK but I do a lot of travelling especially in the US and I will be moving to the US in about 6 months. Some of my numbers show +country code, some have the '0' before the code for local calling, some just have the number with no codes....etc.

Could you please talk me through the entire process of entering a number?
 
The secret of entering a number is to use a format your device can dial. Make sure the control panel > phone and modem configuration is correct - is the number formatted in the desired format when you type it in the number field and tab out?

Once you know the format you want to use, you can use the macro at Remove Prefix and Reformat Phone Numbers to fix existing numbers.

Can I please start with this? I do not understand why I need to put in Local Information when I think it will just confuse the issue. The format I want to use has a +, no spaces and no parenthesis. In other words it will look like this: +441888111111
 
I got it. To get my telephone numbers formatted like this: +441888111111

On your computer, go to Control Panel -> Phone & Modem. On the country, put in 'International Freephone'.

Close Outlook if it was open and now re-open.

It works for me, but I would love to know if anyone else is still having problems.
 
Yeah, I was going to suggest using that if using the area code for the phone didn't work right. In Win7/Outlook 2010 and older, you can use 4 or 5 digit area codes in phone and modem options - but Microsoft "broke" that trick in Win8/Outlook 2013.
