My replies don't show up in my inbox

My company recently switched form gmail to outlook. In gmail, when I replied to a message in my inbox, the incoming message would remain in my inbox but my reply would be attached to it. I see in outlook that is not the case. In other words, I have emails in my inbox that I replied to but it does not show my reply. I want to see it so I know if I responded or not. Can this be done.
 
You should have a reply arrow on the message icon in the mailbox -and that is the best you'll do in outlook 2007. 2010 and 2013 support a conversation view that includes sent messages in the view.
