new outlook contacts searching

search often fails to pull up an existing contact regardless of whether i input the email address or last name or full name

if i do the same search in classic ol, get the correct contact quickly.

X1 search also comes up with the correct contact.


One the chatbots says this is a known issue??

1 -- Do you mean: A) When you start typing a name or email address on the "To" line while composing a new email, or B) When you use the Search Bar at the top of the New Outlook window? Or both?

2 -- Do you have the same issue when using Outlook Web?

1. B only
2. hmm, part of the problem is that I'm not hitting the arrow in the Search Bark input box to go back, after i've performed a specific search. Have to play to play with searching in new outlook more before I respond.
 
an hour later of doing this more systematically searching worked in new outlook:
1. determined that classic outlook could search and find the contact.
2. determined that Outlook Web could find the contact also.
3. determined that local new outlook could not find several contacts even after finding the out of the way View, refresh in contacts

4. I closed all outlooks on the pc.
5. Task manager killed all outlook processes
6. on local machine deleted all the contents of C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\RoamCache
7. opened new outlook
