My Outlook 2007 was working fine, then I began getting the above error

message and am not able to send email. I can still receive email. None of my

account settings have changed and all account settings have been verified by

my service provider. I have tried disabling antivirus, deleting and

recreating the account and using the repair function for the account, all to

no avail. I've searched Google and Microsoft and have found few references to

this error code and no suggestions that solved my problem. Any help is

appreciated! Thanks.

Chang the settings of your email account by clicking more settings, outgoing

server. Click the "my server needs authentication" and change to 'use same

settings as my incoming mail server'. 'Test account setting' and then it

should fix the error message.

Thanks K. Orland. The settings you suggested are my present settings. I have

tried changing them to the other options provided as well, all to no avail.

Highlight the email account you're having problems with and click repair to

see if that helps. If not, recreate the Outlook profile:

I tried the repair. I then tried recreating the profile as per instructions.

Now, when I test the account, I'm not getting the same error message I was, I

get the message: "Send test email message: The operation timed out waiting

for response. . . "

I extended the timeout time to 2 minutes and tried the test account again and

then got the same error code 0x80040607.

How do you know your mail provider's server isn't having problems?

--

Thank you all for all the help. It seems I have the issue resolved. It

doesn't seem to make sense to me, but I did a system restore to yesterday's

date to rectify a problem that I self-inflicted while trying to fix this

problem and now I can send email again. Thanks again for all the help.

Do you scan outgoing email with a virus scanner? If so, did it install an

update right before the problems started? That could be causing issues,

which system restore fixed because it undid the updates.

Hello,

I couldn't solve error 0x80040607 even after trying all the above, i'm using outlook 2007 with 3G connection, i've tried the following too (nothing worked) :

1. Create new emails profile.

2. Registry cleaner.

3. New machine (same connection).

4. more setting >> enable option "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".

Please advise if there something else i should try.

Regards,

Belal
